Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

General audit - would be completing tests of detail EGAs alongside a team, would have daily coaching from a senior. Would involve daily meetings with the audit team as well as the client.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I had a rocky start as a result of a lack of understanding and poor team support in my first audit job, however from then on I enjoyed working with a variety of different teams and people and had a very positive experience in terms of coaching and support throughout my time working. Honestly I have realised that the work we conduct itself is not fun and can be stressful/demanding but the teams make it worth it.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt the methods to be able to complete EGAs. I have learnt to make use of google calendar and chats for communications. Developed my communication as would regularly need to inform my seniors of my progress, as well as my ability to describe issues I was having. I have just in general improved my knowledge of businesses and how they operate, as well as why we test the different FSLIs and would be able to independently complete a wide variety of EGAs I have worked on.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

With COVID they have done relatively well to make sure we have a good experience on the placement, tough to say as the experience I had definitely had its downfalls, such as unfair payment at the beginning of placement (where some people on my course received up to £600 more than me in the first month as a result of COVID, with a very poor response as to why this was the case. t t

A lot, lots of people available to receive support from, including flying start leaders, career coaches, training members, team members, university resources, etc.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Much better as I learn a lot faster and effectively when I actually do work rather than studying, my overall knowledge of businesses and the processes of audit has dramatically improved since starting placement.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

no because of covid. occasional extra curricular stuff at christmas.

Great people, everyone you meet is just a pleasure to work with.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
-don't go in thinking everybody is an expert, nobody starts off easy, there's a big learning curve
-be yourself, PwC are more interested in hiring quality people than just people with impressive feats.
-would have liked to have been told that most the people you work with are under 30, it's not a job full of people outside your age group/generation, makes for a much more comfortable experience as a whole.
