Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Design engineer, responsible for ensuring all component drawings are up to date and correct to part revision. Currently working on restructuring of a components drawings to reduce rework in manufacturing area.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5
I enjoy the work side of it. The college side of my apprenticeship has been disappointing. Training provider has been very unreliable for promises made at the start of the course, teacher turn over is ridiculous for the 3 years i have attended.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Learnt how to use Creo 4.0, SAP, and Autocad to a high level.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
Structure provided is clear now, with 1 month left on the program. At the start of the program it was not clear at all what units or qualifications i was taking. This again is down to the training provider.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Work have been excellent throughout the college work. They have allowed for extra time to be used when needed to complete college work to a deadline. They have regularly questioned the college for issues i have brought to work from college.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
Certain instructors have been excellent throughout the course, and its a shame the rest have made my thoughts on the college so negative because there are some really good teachers at DTA. However the majority of teachers often open a text book at 9am and read page by page until 4:30. Which in my opinion is not teaching, its reading from a book, a skill i learnt at primary school.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
This is a difficult question because I have recently moved into the Research and Development Dept. at my work. The course i am completing isn't[ directly related to the job role, however the degree i am starting in Sept 2020 is, which is reassuring.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Social nights out occur regularly at work and there is a yearly football match which involves different companies from Leeds who made the trip over, or we make the trip over to them for a day.
