Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Desktop engineering and Estate maintenance Across Barclays network along with vulnerability Remediation and monitoring deployment and estate compliance
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Really enjoy my apprenticeship l, when starting I was split between going to university and working full time. I felt university alone was not the best option and when I heard about degree apprenticeships, earning and learning Whilst gaining a degree and vital experience was the best thing for me.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Learnt some good coding skills in various languages, ability to run scripts, managing time with work load and university work load. Many different technical skills and how to conduct proper investigation into desktop deployments/ issues and vulnerabilities.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very organisers and well structured. As a cohort we have monthly catch ups and updated from the university liaison teams. As well as individual meetings with uni tutors to ensure we’re on track. Occur every few months.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Support is always available to myself and contacts are always available to speak with if any issues regarding work or my apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
As the qualification is a university degree any extra study sessions are quite minimal however this is expected as university is a lot more independent learning. Our sessions however are really good and tutors are always available 24/7 to give advise and help on specific topics or issues we have.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My uni learning is very different to the work I carry out however I chose this myself as I felt it gave me a broader understanding and opportunity to learn on how businesses operate and function.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Plenty of extra curricular activities are available. I chose 5 a side football the first year I joined Barclays where I played a couple times a week. I also attend the on site gym every day.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Barclays to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Great place to work and plenty of opportunities to learn and succeed. Have already referred friends to apply for the apprenticeship.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
Application should show clear signs of good work ethic And desire to succeed. I was invited onto an on-site interview day where I performed different tasks with a team. I would advise to get really stuck into these tasks and work well within the team. Don’t try and take over.
