This varies alot based on the specific placement, but it involves a mixture of conducting laboratory work, reviewing test data and writing reports.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Day to day in placement is fantastic. The additional paperwork and knowledge capture of NVQ is a bit annoying.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many skills such as analysing material microstructures, using an SEM, conducting fractography analysis and preparing metal specimens. I've also been able to work on leading tasks and working well within teams.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Stone organisational structure. A bit of discipline cut between the apprenticeship framework and the placement content
