Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Currently doing lots of training, either at university sitting through lectures and tutorials or at Rolls-Royce working towards an NVQ Level 2 by working through various practical sections.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I very much enjoy my programme as there is a good balance of practical and theory based work so I get the best of both worlds. The work environment is also very good, with the LDC being a nice place to work in.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt new and developed existing skills in many of the engineering sections including welding, milling and creating electrical circuits.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
My programme is structured well, giving me enough time to complete my university work and the knowledge questions for each engineering section completed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive much support, with regular reviews with my ADL (Apprentice Development Leader) to look at my progress and ensure I am on track.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
There is some support from the University of Derby. We can always ask questions via email although replies aren't always fast and finding them in person isn't always easy, especially when not at university full time. There is plenty of chance for support during tutorials, however.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I think my qualification enhances my level of knowledge around subjects which I encounter within the workplace. This helps me to perform better in my role at work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are many extra-curricular activities at Rolls-Royce. I am a member of the Apprentices and Graduates Association (AGA) and there are many other Rolls-Royce sporting clubs and groups.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Rolls-Royce to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's a world-class company which values all employees, including apprentices. There is much support which allows for your full potential to grow.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rolls-Royce?
I would recommend doing lots of research on the company, including past, present and future projects. I would also recommend thinking about your ability to work as a team since this is a key value and necessary to ensure a successful and happy workplace.
