Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Researching on markets, very time consuming but will achieve an extremely steep learning curve by the end of the internship. My desk mostly involved navigating through kdb studio, Tableau and using SQL and Python to code. I used Microsoft Excel and user visualisation softwares to give effective presentations. I also conducted a lot of research on the current market and gave my very first stock pitch. On a day-to-day basis, I mostly do research and coding.

Yes, I was given a vast amount of responsibility during my internship.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Developed my Microsoft office skills, presentation skills, teamwork skills and commercial awareness since I had to conduct vast amounts of research of the daily market.
Prior to this internship at Barclays, I did not know how to code at all other that using the software STATA that I learned at University, but after this internship, I picked up SQL, Python and navigating through user visualisation softwares such as Tableau, Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, Word and kdb studio.
