I am a shift manager, we run shifts in line with McDonald's brand standards and are responsible for all people product and equipment involved with our shifts.
We review things such as Labour, waste, quality, service, cleanliness, food safety and health & safety.
We also at this level can help run specific systems of the store I currently run 2 which are crew scheduling and food safety. These are to run the business and support others shifts

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoyed every level of the program it was a way of learning about new parts of the industry that I may have never found touch with due to being in our little McDonald's bubble if management. It now has equipped me not just to do the job I do at McDonald's well but to be able to branch out to the whole industry with experience and knowledge under my belt to help

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt how to analysis our business reporting graphs with a lot more detail and look at how the industry would react to issues not just us in our McDonald's bubble.
I have also developed my communication and people skills a lot more on the apprenticeship as before they were sub par for th rope I have now. This was also done to the help and f my trainer and coach during the course.

Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme was well structured I feel like it could have been inline with McDonald's training more though. As you learn in McDonald's training all your people skills and shift running abilities I feel that part of the course should have been focused on so you can highlight the differences from the general industry and then when you complete the part 2 of McDonald's training complete the P&L side and legislation side of the course so you can constantly compare to the industry Vs McDonald's
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer was very supporting giving me dedicated time to study and complete my business project we have had time to complete monthly HIG chats so that they knew the progress I was at every month.
I also had the ability to go to my in-house coach when ever I needed to probe questions and find answers for report and what not as this was needed greatly for the monthly sessions with my trainer from lifetime.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The support from my trainer was unreal from the begining to the end she supported my with her vast array of knowledge and experience.
She was able to adapt the way that I learn to the learning plan being able to use oral learning instead of visual was brilliant!
Lifetime training definitely has they stuff together and Sarah Haskell was a perfect example of they're "brand" not just meeting the standard but setting it aswell.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The knowledge and experience that the qualification has given me has been great as I can now use it to help analyse our restaurants issues and find quick and effective solutions to promote our people, customers and commercials.
I also now am able to from a customer perspective be more detailed in how I approach the hospitality industry and can identify issues in places not just in my work place. Can ruin a good evening out sometimes

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I am organising a charity walk of 100 miles over 4 days in Holland called Nijmegen. Hopefully should be able and to take a team of 11-15 people with me.
Other then that once a year you can go play football for 1 day

Would you recommend McDonald's to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's a very focussed part of the hospitality industry and you have a great team to support you in it. The team start with the crew who unlike most places of work will help you then you can go all the way to the top of your store where even the business manager will listen to every work you say and help you through your McDonald's career and journey to the top! X
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
Be adaptive.
The business is all about being able to bend and making it work for both parties you can't do that unless you think or you feet adapt and bend to the needs of the customer, yourself and the business.
Be open at all points, we do not hide issues in McDonald's we bring them into the lime light so that people can help you not just pretend that they dont exist
