Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I help support my aligned Relationship Managers and Relationship Director complete tasks. I have picked up a variety of different tasks for them and have learned a lot of new kills since joining. Another colleague supports the same Relationship Managers and Relationship Director as I do so we work very closely. I can also look to solve an issue if there is a problem that arises. I also have regular zoom calls with my manager and colleagues. I also devote a lot of time to my apprenticeship workbook and revision for my PBC exam.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really do enjoy working in my role and the team I am in are all very friendly and helpful. Everyday in the role brings new challenges and overall the work is very exciting. I have learned a lot since joining and want to develop as a worker even further. Sometimes when I am unfamiliar with something I criticize myself just because I want to understand everything straight away but i have recognized that different activities will take a few attempts to understand and learn.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes i have learned a variety of different tasks related to the job and some that are not linked to the job role specifically. I now have the understanding of what it is like to work in an office and have had the experience of that. I have developed my technology skills and am also set up to work from home. I have been able to plan my day effectively in both the office and whilst working from home.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
It is very organised and structured. My line manager and BPP instructor are very supportive of me. Sometimes deadlines of tasks in my apprenticeship programme aren't very clear and I would like that to improve. Also when I first joined I felt for a while I wasn't really told when my apprenticeship programme was to officially begin and I felt that was a bit unclear to start with however did improve and was eventually made more clear.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer and Line Manager. I was recently given the choice to take a pause in my apprenticeship programme due to the Covid-19 outbreak. I had a discussion with my Line Manager and he was very supportive in me taking this break and agreed with what I said. I have also had a variety of different 1-2-1's with my manager and he has always given me excellent advice and I am very grateful for it. So far the support I have received has been excellent.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I have received a lot of support from my BPP instructor regarding my exam and workbooks that need to be completed. I have so far kept in regular contact with my BPP instructor and recently had a long phone call with her talking about my exam and had questions to ask her and she was very useful in answering them. I have had to change instructor since my program began in January but I had a call with both of them at the same time regarding this.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
It has helped me work hard and put a lot of detail in to tasks I have done. I have also been working very hard to get my qualification and have made a start to the exam revision and am aiming to continue at a high intensity and be as prepared as I can for when I sit the exam. There has also been transferable skills in both the day to day role and apprenticeship work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There is extra curricular activities involved at my work. Currently it is hard to participate in due to the Covid-19 outbreak and staff working from home. I would like to get involved in them when they resume. I am unfamiliar if there is any sporting activities through work so I will have to look into that further. At our induction day we got some talks about extra curricular activities that are involved at work and what they involve.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I really enjoy my role and think it is a great experience for someone so would definitely recommend it. Back in February I took part in National Careers Week and spoke about why I really enjoy the role and what it involves. This was set up as an interview format and a video was released a while after so people could watch it and see why I enjoy what I do and why it is definitely worth people doing.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
That it is a brilliant opportunity and a career path you should definitely consider. You should look at the background of what you are applying for and tell them why you are the right person for the role and really show the passion you have. You also need to believe in yourself and make the employer identify that you are the right person for the role that is vacant. The hard work will definitely be worth it.
