Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Each day, we worked closely with our placement team, supported by a trainee buddy, supervisor, and partner who provided guidance and meaningful work. We were included in meetings and given tasks that mirrored the responsibilities of full-time trainees. The workload was challenging yet engaging, keeping us motivated throughout. Our days were busy and rewarding, and we had valuable opportunities to connect with fee-earners and learn directly from their experience and insights.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Understanding the business and exploring potential roles was both insightful and inspiring as it provided me with a clear picture of how different departments collaborate and contribute to the firm’s success. Learning about the variety of roles available helped me identify areas that align with my interests and strengths. It was particularly valuable to see how trainees progress and develop within the firm, which gave me a strong sense of direction and motivation for my future career.

Yes
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to DLA Piper
I would suggest to anyone applying to DLA Piper to take advantage of all the opportunities that you can benefit from throughout the 3.5 weeks. There are plenty of opportunities to network with fee-earners, learn from trainees and enhance your understanding of the legal landscape. It proved to be really important to push yourself outside of your comfort zone in order to benefit fully from the internship, but it is so worthwhile doing so.
