Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Highly varied work. Drafting documentation, research briefs, attending client calls, attending court, delivering documentation, filing documents with the courts, and drafting responses to client queries. Working with everyone in the firm, from trainees to partners, on their ongoing work. Completed a group presentation, and an individual assessment also.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
We received continuous support and knowledge on this. We were assigned a support network who could answer any questions that we had. We had an insight orientation at the beginning that outlined the opportunities available, which was very helpful to in understanding the business and in understanding the potential roles available.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Yes. I have learned a lot of practical legal skills. I have learned about how a corporate global law firm functions on the day-to-day basis. I have learned about collaboration, and about how departments can come together on a singular case.

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Absolutely incredible. Everyone, from the trainees to the partners were so kind and helpful. It was clear that everyone wished for us to have the best possible experience. All questions we had were answered, and we were encouraged to seek help when needed. I did not encounter a single person who was not welcoming.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I loved it. The firm culture was welcoming, the work was varied and interesting. I felt involved in the firm, and was never afraid to ask questions. The structure of the insight was comprehensive and ensured that we understood exactly what was expected of us.

Research the firm before applying. Allow your personality to shine through. Be curious and ask questions - you are here to learn. Do not be afraid to be creative with your application - you need to stand out. It is a long application process, but it is absolutely worth it.
