Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role as a summer intern was to gain an understanding into the operations of a commercial law firm. Day to day this involved getting experience on matters such as contract reviews, drafting documents, attending client calls, taking minutes and conducting research.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
As an intern I was given a good level of responsability appropriate for my level. The Team were happy to get us involved in real world matters and help assist and get a greater understanding to the day to day operations of a corporate firm and what is involved at a granular level for deals.

Through this I have learn keen skills in commerical awareness and how to be client focused I have also created a more streamlined process for managing work and competing deadlines as well honing my presentation and networking skills.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
Through the internship, The level of the support an guidance was second to none from the buddy system operated to greater oversight from partners. All levels of staff were kind and friendly in helping oversee our progress on work, being available for chats regarding careers in the law and over all very approachable

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture was very open and social. Most people were happy to chat and give their insights and there was a keen sense of camaraderie between all the staff. It was a great exposure to a law firm to see how genuinely happy people were working here.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I greatly enjoyed my placement as it gave me a real feel for the daily work of a corporate lawyer, the level of organisation and commitment to support by the teams were second to none and you really felt you were contributing to important work and gaining key experience in the industry

To be open to every and all opportunities available, to not be afraid to approach new people and introduce yourself to them. To try and find if there is work available in areas that interest you and make yourself reliable without pestering for work.
