Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
As a summer intern in the Pro Bono and Employment teams at DLA Piper, I conducted research tasks, including compiling a fact file on Eritrea. I assisted with client interviews and drafted documents for underserved communities. In the Employment team, I focused on drafting a settlement agreement, managing cases, conducting research, and participating in client meetings. Additionally, I enjoyed intern socials, which included networking events and team-building activities, enhancing my overall experience.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Understanding the business and potential roles at DLA Piper as a disabled non-binary individual was both enlightening and empowering. The firm's commitment to inclusivity allowed me to explore diverse career paths within a supportive environment. Engaging with the Pro Bono and Employment teams, I saw how my unique perspectives could contribute to meaningful legal work.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I thoroughly enjoyed the insight at DLA Piper. The range of work was diverse and engaging, allowing me to learn and grow continuously. The other interns were nice and supportive, making the experience even more enjoyable. The friendly and non-hierarchical culture, combined with the inclusive environment, made it easy to connect with colleagues and mentors. Overall, it was a rewarding and empowering journey that left me feeling inspired about my future in law.
