Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The internship featured an induction in London, before we went to our regional offices. I was in the Manchester office and sat in the Corporate and Projects (Finance) seats. Day-to-day activities involved seat-specific work, including drafting ancillary documents, attending client calls, and being proactive in getting to know the team.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was very insightful to learn about all of the opportunities that DLA Piper has outside of Legal roles. We gained knowledge of the business services that are offered and discovered the non-legal side of the firm during conferences at our induction.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture and atmosphere was amazing. Everyone at the firm genuinely wants you to do well and guides you through what can be a daunting process. My nerves were immediately calmed by the Early Careers teams and those in my practice groups.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to intern at DLA Piper. I have developed invaluable skills that I will carry forward throughout my legal career. I would highly recommend the insight to anyone interested in law. Not only do you learn and engage with important matters, but you also develop essential soft skills as well.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to DLA Piper
During the application process, I would recommend staying true to yourself and being confident in the value your individual experiences bring. Non-legal work experience is just as important to legal, so definitely highlight these and link them to the job role. Also, ensure your knowledge on the firm is excellent as it will help you decide if its the right fit for you as well!
