Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

Every day, there were presentations on different practice area or groups in the firm. There were also events dedicated to networking and getting to know people at the firm. The remainder of the day was spent on your desk. During time at your desk, you would be working on your research task or participating in work on behalf of your supervisor.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

It was a very thorough introduction into the business. The sessions really established what makes Latham Latham. The practice area presentations highlighted the role of a trainee in each department, something relevant when considering that this is a scheme geared towards potential future trainees. There was also a lot of discussion about what a career with Latham can lead to, both inside and outside the firm.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have been able to further my commercial awareness, especially in relation to law firms as businesses. I have been able to distinguish what exactly sets Latham apart. I have developed my communication skills through the research task. The feedback process allowed me to understand how to fine tune my writing process.
