Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
In litigation:
- completed live work on white collar crime investigations
- completed a research task on privellege
- had coffee chats with people in different departments and practice areas (associates, partners and trainees)
- complete pro bono work
In Corporate DTT
- read over a due diligence report
- complete a research task on consumer rights, data protections, commercial contracts and intellectual property
- organise coffee chats with people in different practice areas/ business development team
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
- Allowed to be more specific with my career intentions and goals
- Was able to understand the various support systems available, which are commonly overlooked
- Gave me confidence, and reaffirmed my reasons in wanting to pursue commercial law at Latham & Watkins
Overall, it was great. Incredibly insightful.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
- Learning how to use practical law/west law for legal research
- Improved on dealing with conflicting deadlines/schedules
- Improved communication skills, e.g attended a client call, and had to do an intro
- Improved social skills e.g. Did a floor walk independently in Corporate DTT when supervisor was not present, & introduced myself to everyone on the floor.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
- Amazing! Everyone is so genuine, and helpful.
- There is no hierarchy. The partners were easy to talk to, and inspiring
- The support system is broad and diverse. Any query and issue was solved in less than 30mins.
- Definitely see myself working here

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I really enjoyed the insight, I learnt information about the firm (which I could not find online e.g. I was able to look at a due diligence report in detail, and understand the process, structure and research which went into creating them).
I enjoyed the genuine and honest insight on the trainee solicitor life at Latham. The honesty helped me understand that the working culture alligns with my own working styles/preferences/learning styles.
