Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role involves:
Building strong relationships with customers, internal teams, and partners—handling questions or requests and understanding their business goals to ensure we’re adding real value.
Creating and delivering client‑facing content, including presentations and documentation, and attending both internal and external meetings to track actions and align service delivery with contracts and strategic objectives.
Analysing performance data and trends to identify areas for improvement or expansion of our services.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, I was given a lot of responsibility and took real ownership over several areas.
Some examples include:
Change Management: I independently ran the Salesforce change control process, handling change requests from start to finish.
Service Reporting & Metrics: I created accurate, professional-looking reports and even introduced new insights, like software detection, by working closely with internal teams
Stakeholder Communication: I regularly followed up with stakeholders, sent timely updates, and kept everyone informed—pushing myself to be more confident and assertive.
AVVC T&M Requests: I fully owned this process, managing everything from logging to quoting to booking engineers.
ITSM Integration: I collaborated with the vendor on integrating Snow with the CMDB and developed an understanding of how endpoint data flows into the system.
Rekeying Optimisation: I investigated ways to reduce manual data entry and looked into automating reporting from ITSM to Salesforce.
Software Assets Management (SAM) Process Improvements: I explored ways to simplify and automate processes, sharing ideas with the licence management team and sales team

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Yes, I’ve definitely developed both new and existing skills.
Since starting, I’ve become much more confident in my communication—especially when speaking in meetings or writing to customers. I’ve also improved my time management and organisation, balancing different tasks and deadlines more effectively.
On top of that, I’ve picked up new technical knowledge related to our services and how they’re delivered, which has helped me better understand the customer’s perspective and how to support them.
Teamwork and adaptability: I’m also learning how to work with people from different teams and countries
Digital Literacy: I independently built visual process documents using Visio that the team still uses.
Initiative & Drive: I volunteered for high-stakes ownership roles and proactively progressed action points.
Commercial Awareness: gained insight into how contracts are structured and how margins affect our operations.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received a really good level of support and guidance throughout my placement.
From the start, I had regular check-ins with my manager and team, which helped me stay on track and ask questions when needed. I also felt comfortable reaching out to other colleagues—they were always happy to explain things or involve me in their work.
At the same time, I was trusted to work independently, which helped me grow in confidence. I was given the space to take ownership of tasks, but I knew support was there if I needed it. That balance really helped me learn and develop.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I've really enjoyed my placement so far! it was a brilliant mix of learning, working, and getting involved in wider team life.
My team was incredibly welcoming and supportive from day one. They involved me in real work, encouraged my ideas, and gave me the space to grow, while always being there if I needed help.
One of the best parts was how sociable and inclusive the culture was. We had regular social nights which helped me get to know people outside of work—and it made a big difference feeling like part of a community, not just someone passing through.
There were always opportunities to get involved beyond day-to-day tasks, like networking events, volunteering, or joining interest groups. I took full advantage of those and it really rounded out the experience.
The work-life balance was also great. The company genuinely respects your time, so I never felt burnt out or overwhelmed. That made it easier to stay motivated and enjoy what I was doing.
Overall, I had a genuinely positive experience. I learned a lot, had fun, and built connections I’ll take with me into the future.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Computacenter to a friend?
Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to Computacenter
My advice to anyone applying to Computacenter is: go for it and be yourself.
You don’t need to know everything before you start. What really matters is showing enthusiasm, being open to learning, and having a positive attitude. They’re looking for people who are curious, willing to get involved, and who work well with others.
Also, take the time to understand what Computacenter does and think about how your strengths could fit into their business. During the interview, don’t be afraid to talk about your experiences—even small ones—as long as you can show what you learned or how you handled a situation.
Once you're in, get involved! There are so many chances to connect with people, join socials, and grow your network beyond just your role. That made a big difference to my experience, and it's a great way to make the most of your time there.
Lastly, stay open-minded. You might find yourself learning about things you never expected—and really enjoying them!
