Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I'm working on 4 projects which I am responsible for the progress of. I am also currently constructing my end of internship presentation, which I work on for 1-2 hours a day. I usually have daily meetings with other members of my close team and once/twice a week meet externally with the Cobrand Partner or a creative Agency.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given a great deal of responsibility, as I took complete ownership of each of my projects. I independently briefed creative Agencies with my ideas and led the project forward.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have developed my communication skills and confidence through speaking to members of the team in Senior positions and taking on professional and constructive feedback for the first time. I am now able to present my ideas to large teams and have a better understanding of the financial services and marketing roles. I have developed my PowerPoint and Excel skills through constructing regular documents.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received a significant deal of support, both from my immediate team and also the Buddy I was allocated prior to the beginning of the internship. The guidance from my Leader has been invaluable, and their expertise have helped me grow a great deal. My buddy has helped me through their own intern experience.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture is one of the best things about American Express, everyone has time for you and is committed to making your intern experiences amazing. I have gained a breadth of knowledge through coffee chats with the colleagues working in different areas to myself.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I have loved my time with American Express. I have been supported and guided throughout the whole process and feel as though I have grown on a personal and professional level. I have made valuable relationships despite the virtual circumstances, illustrating how special the Company is.
