Design/UX Placement Review

My daily routine consisted of keeping up to date with our task board which included curating campaigns and promotions used across the site, email and social media. Aside from these tasks I would work on real-life projects to maintain and improve the TopCashback website which ranged from branding, UI/UX design, animation and marketing projects.

I was given lots of responsibly in the bigger projects, I was trusted with projects that had a direct impact on the website for example I had the responsibility to create visual assets for the biggest campaign of the year which was Black Friday where I had the creative freedom to develop a new design. I was also given the responsibility to communicate ideas to other teams and external clients.

I have gained more knowledge and experience in UI/UX design and I have developed my technical skills becoming more proficient in Adobe software in particular Illustrator, Photoshop and XD. I also improved my soft skills including presentation, communication and teamwork and overall I have become more confident in myself and my design skills.

I was given full support the full time I was there and I was able to reach out any time I needed help. I had a 1 to 1 with my manager every 3 weeks which helped me keep on track and also progress throughout the year.

I felt very welcome when I started and the office environment was very relaxed and everyone is so friendly. We had monthly business update meetings which was informing to learn about what was happening within the company and other departments as well as annual winter and summer socials and team socials.

I have really enjoyed my placement at TopCashback and I have learned so many valuable skills which have enhanced my design skills and I have loved being part of a team. This experience is going to help me a lot when I return to university and I have gained a fonder interest in UI/UX design.
