Junior Press Officer Review

My role of Junior Press Officer my day to day job was checking the coverage of all media mentions of TopCashback. On top of this, I also closely monitored our press inbox, checking for any journalist requests for case studies or expert commentary quotes. I also wrote and sent out money-saving deals spins to several outlets every week, highlighting how readers could save on everyday items through using TopCashback.

Yes - I had several tasks I was responsible for. Examples included; monitoring all media coverage, creating reports of the press teams monthly output, reviewing newspapers and writing deals for our affiliative relationships.

I have developed my writing skills, in particular how to write in a tone of a journalist and within that, strengthened my critical analysis skills. I have learnt how to use media monitoring platforms such as Vuelio and Cision.

I felt very supported during my placement where I had regular 1:1s with my manager. I also worked within a team of four, where we worked very closely on tasks. At the start of my placement, I also received regular training on how to use company tools.

The company culture overall is extremely friendly. There is an initiative called TopCatchups where you are randomly assigned a 30 minute meeting with someone random in the company - helping you connecting with the whole company. On the last Thursday of everyone month, we also have pizza meetings , where one person from the office shares a personal interest and is a chance where we all handout.

I have enjoyed my placement so much, I will most definitely miss all of my colleagues.

Yes
