Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes. From the first day I was encouraged to undertake large tasks under the supervision of my line manager, producing solutions to real world problems and providing a financial benefit to the company and the UK tax payer

I have developed technical system analysis skills, aligned with UKSPEC competencies. There is also a large focus on soft skills which are transferrable to any future careers and opportunities.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
We were assigned technical pathway leads who had regular checkups to ensure pastoral and work related issues were picked up and rectified. As well as this each student is assigned a personal mentor aligned to their scheme who assisted with charter-ship journeys and also advised on any areas to gain the most benefit

There are many employees stuck in an “old” mindset and seemingly unwilling to shift from this. However, there are large sitewide initiatives to improve on these

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I enjoyed the placement. The area was a bit of a shock to the system but this was quickly moved past by the social events and large community of graduates and industrial placement students
