Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Liaising directly with customers to understand and respond to their IT needs via email, meetings or demos. I regularly participate in vendor training sessions to stay up to date with the latest technologies and updates. Building relationships internally and externally, to further my network and utilise the resource around me.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I manage my own account base, providing towards many SMB customers IT estates. Whilst the level of responsibility is high, it is just as rewarding.

I have developed my market knowledge, relationship building and professional communication skills. Whilst also gaining skills surrounding technical and practical experience and project management.

Support is widely available however, you do have to seek this out yourself to make the most out of the resource. I think this is really dependant on what your relationship is like with your manager.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
I cannot fault the culture at Softcat, it places strong emphasis on employee satisfaction and well-being. The company is driven by it's core values - fun, community, passion ext. This fosters a positive environment that provides a great foundation for a successful career.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I have enjoyed my internship and found it highly rewarding, I have been offered valuable insights and developed many new skills. However, the level of responsibility and the need to manage multiple tasks simultaneously introduced a degree of pressure that was both challenging and eye-opening.

What advice would you give to others applying to Softcat
Come into the role with an open mind and be patient with yourself. It took me around four to five months to find my footing and feel confident in what I was doing. Give yourself time to learn, adapt, and grow. Confidence comes with experience.
