Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Champion robust CI Scheme throughout the UKLC Facility. Including increasing engagement & accessibility to the CI Scheme and support requests to roll it out to other sites.
Tasks included:
- Analyzing and producing and presenting KPIs on a weekly basis.
- Chasing open projects and getting updates.
- Supporting department regarding larger projects and initiatives.
- Building relationships with Operators on the warehouse floor.
- Supporting cross-functional improvements.
- Creating process flows and participating in Value Stream Transformations (VSTs).

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, projects and initiatives were given early on into my placement enabling plenty of projects to get stuck into the moment I started. Most of the projects I managed during my placement, I had a lot of freedom to take it in the direction I wanted. I had support from the rest of my department when needed.

As someone with great independence, I required little support or guidance during my placement. However, my line manager and department was always there to give support when I requested it.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Although the experience of starting the placement was overwhelming the atmosphere that I worked in was very relaxed. Everyone was super friendly and the atmosphere in the office was very welcoming.
My placement definitely highlighted the importance of having a healthy office space. I am pleased that I had the opportunity to work in such a friendly environment so close to the beginning of my professional career.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Cummins it is a true reflection of its core values of: Diversity & Inclusion, Integrity, Caring and Excellence.
The opportunity of different projects is huge in the Continuous Improvement team as there is a vast amount of cross-functional initiatives being carried out on site this enables the best opportunity to learn a lot about corporate business.
The people are very friendly, caring and supportive making the experience of my placement very enjoyable and making me wanting to come to work every day.
