Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Within procurement i have worked across two sectors, sourcing and continuity. These have different responsibilities so the role includes supporting both. This involves liasing with external suppliers and internal team members to get parts to plant at the correct time, as well as getting involved in project work for a variety of commodities.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Significant responsibility given during placement including taking the lead on project management and running processes. Full training is given but initiative taking is encouraged, feels like a real job rather than a placement

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Significant improvement in professional skills and communication skills which couldn't have been developed at university, developed problem solving and leadership skills as the role includes leadership and project management possibilities which have greatly improved a number of my skills as well as my enjoyment of the role.

Significant support from an overarching placement supervisor, as well as a line manager and overall manager for different issues. Always someone to go to and the placement is fully supported.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Company has a great culture and has supported by career development significantly, great atmosphere and all staff are easy to talk to. Only drawback is significant number of staff now work from home permenantly post covid.

Interview process is tricky but the role is worth it. Say yes to everything as you can get involved with some brilliant projects with a real-world impact. Get involved in community initiatives outside of the scope of the job description for further enjoyment.
