Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
I attended a one-day Spring Insight programme at Forvis Mazars, which provided a valuable introduction to the professional services industry, with a focus on audit, tax, and advisory. The day was designed to give prospective applicants a clear understanding of the firm’s culture, structure, and the work involved in graduate roles.
What Was Involved:
• Firm Overview & Culture: The day began with an introduction to Forvis Mazars, its values, international presence, and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
• Career Pathways Presentation: We received an overview of the various service lines and the progression routes within each, including audit, tax, and consulting.
• Interactive Workshop: There was a group-based case study where we worked collaboratively to solve a client-related problem, encouraging critical thinking and teamwork.
• Professional Skills Sessions: We participated in sessions focused on CV writing, application advice, and interview techniques, aimed at preparing us for future roles within the firm.
• Networking: The day concluded with a Q&A panel and networking session with current trainees and senior staff, where I had the chance to ask questions and gain insight into their experiences.
This one-day experience gave me a strong foundation for understanding the professional services industry and helped reinforce my interest in pursuing a career with a values-driven firm like Forvis Mazars.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Understanding the business and its potential roles felt like getting a glimpse behind the curtain of a complex, purpose-driven machine — where every team, from audit to advisory, plays a unique role in shaping better outcomes for clients and society.
What struck me most was how interconnected the roles were; audit wasn’t just about compliance, it was about trust. Tax wasn’t just numbers, it was about strategy. Every role had both technical depth and human impact — and that completely changed how I viewed a career in professional services.
It made me think less about “which role fits me” and more about “which problems am I excited to solve?” That shift in perspective made the business feel alive, full of pathways that don’t just follow a straight line but adapt to your growth, interests, and values.
That one day left me inspired — not just to apply, but to contribute.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Yes, the Forvis Mazars Spring Insight helped me develop a skill I didn’t expect to sharpen in just one day: the ability to think commercially while communicating clearly under pressure.
During the case study exercise, I quickly realised that having a solution wasn’t enough — it had to be framed in a way that made sense to a client. This pushed me to adapt my communication style, focus on clarity over complexity, and link my ideas to the client’s wider business goals. It was a powerful reminder that technical knowledge is only as effective as your ability to explain it.
In addition, the networking session helped me refine my active listening skills. Rather than preparing my next question, I learned to truly engage with what each speaker was saying — which led to deeper conversations and more meaningful takeaways.
These aren’t just skills I can list — they’re skills I’ll carry into every future opportunity.

5/5
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture at Forvis Mazars struck a rare balance — professional, yet genuinely warm and down-to-earth. From the moment I joined the insight day, I could tell this wasn’t just a firm focused on results, but on people. Everyone I interacted with, from recent graduates to senior staff, was approachable, open, and honest about their journey.
What really stood out was the emphasis on inclusion and authenticity. There was no sense of needing to “fit a mould” — instead, individuality was welcomed, and curiosity encouraged. The atmosphere felt energising and collaborative, like a place where ideas are shared freely and growth is a team effort.
It made it easy to imagine myself thriving there — not just as a professional, but as a whole person.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I genuinely enjoyed the insight far more than I expected — it felt less like a formal careers event and more like a deep dive into what a future at Forvis Mazars could really look like. The balance of learning, interaction, and real talk from employees made the experience engaging from start to finish.
What made it particularly enjoyable was how included I felt, even in such a short space of time. The activities were hands-on, the people were relatable, and every part of the day felt purposeful. I left feeling not only more informed but actually excited about the idea of working in professional services — and even more so, at Forvis Mazars.
It was a one-day insight, but it made a lasting impression.

Yes
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Forvis Mazars
My biggest tip would be: don’t just prepare to impress — prepare to understand. Forvis Mazars places real value on people who are curious, reflective, and genuinely interested in the business. So take the time to learn about their values, their global structure, and how they support clients beyond the numbers.
Also, be authentic. You don’t need to have the perfect answer — but you do need to show self-awareness and a willingness to learn. During my insight day, it was clear that the firm appreciates individuality and potential more than polished perfection.
Finally, approach the application process with a mindset of mutual fit. Think about not just why you want to work there, but why they would want to work with you — and let that come through in your application.
