Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the virtual experience and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
You were given a schedule with built-in time with your placement team and time for self-led learning. You also were able to meet several other interns through the weekly social events and multiple development sessions.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Very interesting, because NatWest was not only interested in the work you do, but your development, so they would introduce us all to various stakeholders in the bank and gave us a chance to network and learn about various roles in the bank.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I was able to learn more about the laws around banking and have had the chance to start coding and learning in a new programming language. I have developed communication skills due to the amount of development sessions given and I feel more confident in a professional environment.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone is kind and understanding. I had a family loss during the internship and everyone was incredibly nice and allowed me to take time off to grieve. When I came back, I was filled in on everything that happened from the other interns and my line manager and placement team.

To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
I enjoyed the experience a lot. It gave me a valuable look into the professional environment and showed the importance of team working with everyone. If I am offered a place on the graduate scheme, I will definitely be accepting to go back.
