Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

It’s really great. We get to meet a lot of other interns, and both senior and junior bankers. The desk shadowing part is really useful. My buddy and his team are all really nice and friendly. They are willing to give me advices regarding the career and share their experiences. It is very insightful and I get to understand the roles of different divisions within Citi and different teams within investment banking division better.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

It is beneficial to me because now I am able to evaluate which role and division is more suitable for me. It is also helpful for me to see the industry as a whole picture and understand the responsibilities of each division.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I developed my networking skills and I love to chat with people who I don’t know now. It also enhanced my understanding into the roles of investment bankers and how they work on M&A deals and IPOs. I get to know the whole process for a M&A deal and IPO and I think it will be very beneficial for me as a student who just started exploring the investment banking industry.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

It is an inclusive and friendly environment. Everyone is welcoming, friendly, and supportive. They are willing to share their experiences and knowledge to help interns to understand the industry better. I really gained a lot from this program. The panels and networking events are really helpful. Moreover, the desk shadowing part is the most helpful because I get to see and know the daily routine of the investment bankers.
