I enhanced my Excel skills while working on my project, which allowed me to not only improve my technical abilities but also deepen my soft skills. Additionally, I developed stronger communication skills and gained valuable knowledge in networking.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I received valuable support during my internship, particularly in the form of regular check-ins with my supervisor and access to training materials. For example, my manager provided detailed feedback on my early projects, which helped me improve quickly. However, I was also given the freedom to take ownership of my tasks, which allowed me to develop independence and problem-solving skills. The support was well-balanced, offering guidance when needed while also encouraging me to take initiative.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Barclays has a strong culture centered on collaboration, diversity, and innovation. The teams I worked with were very supportive, with a strong emphasis on open communication and continuous feedback. The general atmosphere was both dynamic and inclusive—people were encouraged to bring their ideas to the table, and there was a real focus on personal and professional development.
