HSBC Headstart Programme Review

Daily insights from members of each division, networking sessions and insights into the everyday tasks and responsibilities of employees across a whole range of divisions. A highlight was the visit to the trading floor, where I was fortunate to meet a whole range of different divisions representatives and ask any questions I had.

Very fascinating – lots of helpful advice and guidance share. I cannot fault the offering and insights they had about all the potential roles available. Every business representative was always willing to help and kind with their time and I am grateful for the network-building opportunities that I had.

Through the HSBC Head Start Programme, I enhanced my communication and time management skills, becoming more organised and proactive. I also developed a strong sense of professional and commercial awareness in a business environment, enabling me to better understand operations in the Global Banking and Markets division and apply strategic thinking to real-world situations (as evidenced in the real life DCM Case study that we took part in on our second day.

The company culture at HSBC was incredibly supportive, with every representative of the firm always willing to help and offer supportive guidance. Teamwork appears to be a core tenet at HSBC, facilitating a collaborative and inclusive environment. I admired how passionate everyone was about HSBC’s culture and values, which fostered a strong sense of purpose and belonging throughout the organisation.

I thoroughly enjoyed this HSBC insight event, and would definitely recommend to anyone in the future. The opportunity to network, connect with new people, and find potential mentorship was invaluable. Every session was engaging and informative, providing a deep insight into each business line. Overall, this programme was a truly enriching and rewarding experience that I feel fortunate to have been a part of.
