Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Assisting in projects, teaching new employees how to use a new platform used by AstraZeneca, creating and migrating risk assessments. Projects over the whole role included creating a homepage for the team and digitally tidying up folders. Daily will be attending and hosting meetings.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I have been responsible for the migration of a large scale project migration, from one method to another. I have also been given access to anything I have needed or asked for. I have also been in contact with numerous customers. Along with this I have been assissting with many colleagues day to day tasks whilst having my own to complete.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Enhanced communication skills through interacting is many internal colleagues and hundreds of external sites, along with improving excel skills and data collection. I have gotten used to office discipline, and through this I have gained a network and better networking skills. Learned how to create and present meetings with my own presentations.

I have enough support in anything I asked for, sometimes my questions were not able to be answered by one person, but someone would be able to answer it and I would always get an answer even after a while.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Professional and friendly. As it was the summer holiday season for many the office was quieter. I found other interns and was going to lunch with them. There was a Fika every month plus volunteering options and a farewell meal which I attended.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I have thoroughly enjoyed my internship. It has been a great learning and networking experience that has and will largely improve my CV and later employability.

What advice would you give to others applying to AstraZeneca
Researching the company before hand, and having a look at the interview structure. Understand the products that AstraZeneca sell and how globalised it is. You will be working with people in all different time zones and cultures.
