Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Some days, I assisted client teams with data collation for Excel or contributed to writing reports. On other days, I supported the research teams by helping to create and manage databases. Additionally, we participated in charity challenges and attended learning sessions with fellow interns, which added variety to our experience.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given substantial responsibility during my internship. I was deeply involved in client work, directly contributing to projects, and also played a key role in assisting the research teams with their ongoing tasks. This level of involvement allowed me to take ownership of significant aspects of our work and contribute meaningfully to our objectives.

I’ve significantly enhanced my understanding of the investment field. Additionally, I’ve developed my teamwork, communication, and engagement skills, and I’ve also improved my proficiency in Excel.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

Everyone at Hymans was incredibly friendly. We had a dedicated graduate buddy and a people manager, but the entire office was welcoming and always willing to assist whenever we needed help.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The office had a very flat structure, with everyone, regardless of their seniority, being approachable and willing to help. It created a highly inclusive environment where open communication and collaboration were encouraged.
