My role was to get involved with the team, and receive some coaching, to learn some of the everyday activities on an audit. I was then able to complete client work, whilst being able to obtain regular, quality advice from more senior members on the team. This mainly involved evidence gathering activities of the client, in order to ensure that the appropriate level of proof is there in order to conduct an audit which meets the legislative requirements. This is conducted to verify that the company's financial statements reflect the actual financial position of the company for stakeholders.

I would certainly agree that you are given a lot of responsibility on the internship. For example, I actually completed some of the work which is needed for the audit itself. However, this was a good experience as this level of responsibility is also coupled with a good level of support, meaning that at no point did it ever feel like this was too much responsibility. Also, my colleagues were very understanding whenever I made a mistake.

Despite such a short internship, of only 3 weeks, I feel like I have been able to rapidly enhance my skills throughout this time. My IT skills have improved a long way, as this role requires you to learn at a quick pace, and has initiated me into using PwC's gsuite tools in an effective manner ready for work. I was also able to receive some coaching to enhance my excel skills, whilst working on an audit activity.

You receive unbeatable levels of support and guidance throughout the internship. You are given a buddy, which is someone who is always on hand to answer questions, and being someone of a similar age made you feel very comfortable in leaning upon them for support. In terms of the more senior members of the audit team, these were all available and eager to aid/coach you throughout the day, even the senior manager! This was something that I didn't expect and made me feel like I was valued.

The general atmosphere in the company seemed very good. Everyone I met was extremely friendly and happy to talk about whatever issues you had, and were very understanding. Perhaps the biggest surprise was the 'energiser' sessions which are 30 minutes a day of playing games with your team mates, which is a really nice touch to boost morale. There were also many online social events which were very well thought through, such as a bake -along complete with a supermarket voucher, or an online DJ party with a deliveroo voucher. These events to meet other interns made me want to accept the graduate offer, as it felt like a great place to work, with passionate, intelligent colleagues.

On the whole the internship was very enjoyable. There were a couple of days when my coach was ill and thus I struggled a bit in terms of asking for work of other senior managers, but this was soon resolved. Besides that I thought it was a very good programme and gives you a great opportunity to see if you would enjoy the type of work you intend to go into. There were also many other great opportunities to meet and talk to other interns, as well as a range of social events. Thus, on the whole I would highly recommend this internship.
