Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I Supported the team by updating reports using Excel.
I created and refined PowerPoint presentations.
I attended client meetings to gain insights and contribute to discussions.
I Visited the insurance market to meet with brokers and understand market conditions.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given a significant amount of work and was welcomed into the team which i appreciated ! I attended lots of client meetings and meeting with underwriters- I gained insight into the insurance market. I also had my internship project to do which kept me busy. However, sometimes it was a bit hard to delegate tasks to me considering I don't have much knowledge and experience.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

During my internship, I significantly developed my communication skills through regular client meetings and interactions with underwriters, learning how to effectively convey and receive information in a professional setting. I also built a new skill in research, which I honed while working on my internship project, enabling me to gather, analyze, and synthesize information more efficiently.
Additionally, this experience was my first exposure to a corporate environment, where I developed strong teamwork skills. Collaborating closely with my team taught me the importance of coordination, flexibility, and mutual support in achieving shared goals.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I received a lot of support from my entire team especially from my manager. He also took time to check on me and assist me with anything i needed. We also had weekly catch up to talk about my progress and areas i might need help with.
