Reinsurance Intern Review

My work was geared towards supporting more senior brokers and the work they do for clients. This involved working on spreadsheets inputting data, collecting information, producing reports and making powerpoints. My time was mostly spent learning about the industry and experiencing day to day office life.

It is quite hard to tell... I did a fair amount of client work, but I imagine that all of it would have been double checked by someone else. I did a lot of work for other brokers that was not sent directly to clients, and in this area I was given more responsibility because the stakes were lower.

Learnt about the insurance industry, developed my excel skills significantly, learnt how to produce a powerpoint that aligns with a certain branding, learnt more soft skills (in terms of learning how best to interact with more senior brokers on a day to day basis).

My team were extremely supportive of me and my learning, and several teammembers clearly put time aside to teach me and enrich my understanding of the field of work. I feel that I could have recieved more personal support from my manager since I have only had 2 meetings with them (and this is my ninth week), and they are rarely in to support me day to day - both personally and in my professional work.

Amazing - the team are all very friendly and often keen to involve me in projects and keep me updated with team updates.

I really enjoyed it and feel like I have both learnt a lot, and had a really enjoyable time.
