Vacation Scheme Participant Review

I completed tasks given to me by my Supervisor and other members of the department. I was sitting in healthcare, so this involved summarising documents, drafting instructions to experts, drafting reports, and taking minutes of meetings.
I interacted with a number of people from the firm in different departments and across different levels. We had scheduled presentations and workshops to learn about different practice areas and parts of the business.

We had talks and sessions on learning & development, the finances of a law firm and other business development activities. We learned about various practice areas through presentations and networking events. We had an overview of the Training Contract to understand what was involved and learn more about the role of a Trainee.

I developed my attention to detail through taking minutes and drafting reports. I developed my communication skills through summarising lengthy documents into concise summaries. I developed my organisation and time-management as I was juggling multiple different tasks with different deadlines for different people.

Fantastic. Everyone was incredibly friendly, open and welcoming. I was able to talk to people across all levels, from paralegals to partners and everyone was very willing to give me their time. We had two really enjoyable socials as well as presentations on the firm's corporate responsibility and diversity initiatives.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was able to get involved in substantive work and client interactions which I was not expecting. Everyone was incredibly friendly and I felt very welcomed and comfortable. The team I was sat in, graduate recruitment and everyone else involved was really supportive. I gained a good understanding of the firm and its various offerings. The company culture was brilliant.
