Data and Analytics Internship Review

The internship included a mixture of self-led learning, placement (where tasks are set by your intern line manager) and a business project (in which you worked with other interns from other areas and locations).

During my internship I was given a lot of responsibility. I was set three projects that I worked on as part of a team and saw through from start (raw data/ business question) to finish (presentation).

I have learnt new programming skills and data visualisation tools as well as improving my ability to present and work in a team. I have also discovered what it is like to work for a large company and the opportunities that this presents.

I felt very supported throughout my internship. My manager was always there to answer questions and provide guidance when I was stuck. I also had a buddy who I met with weekly, who provided great advice and was a friendly face in the office.

The company culture at NatWest was very supportive and willing to help out. On occasions where I reached out to higher up people in the company I was always met with a kind response and opportunity to meet for a chat. In general, the atmosphere in the office was very positive and friendly.

I really enjoyed my internship at NatWest. I learnt so many technical skills and felt although I developed a lot personally. From this experience I feel much more confident in my career going forwards, wherever that may be.
