Management Consultancy Intern Review

I was supporting on a project that was writing an AI Strategy for an organisation. My days consisted of meetings with the rest of the team, working on slide decks, performing research, compiling resources and joining client calls. PwC encourages networking, so some of time was also spent connecting with people in the business to find out more about them and their work.
A standard day:
0845 start and 1700 finish. A morning meeting with the team to assess the work for the day and allocate tasks. Work on those tasks for the rest of the day, usually interspersed with a few meetings and calls with colleagues.

Yes. My team was small, and at one point, two out of four of the working team were away. This meant that I had to step up and deliver work at a high level, work towards and deadlines and support the team in a very crucial way. Asking for opportunities to develop and practice new skills were encouraged, so I found that I could take responsibility for key parts of the work and the team would support me on that.

Yes, definitely. I learnt a lot of new specialist knowledge around AI and other relevant topics. It also gave me the opportunity to become very competent and comfortable with Google suite. I developed the skills I had in team work, self management, research and presentation. This internship provided me with a great opportunity to learn from my team, who provided me with useful feedback, which I could then act upon in order to grow and develop my professional self.

I received a lot of support and guidance - PwC have a buddy system where they pair you up with someone of a similar grade to you and they are your point of contact with any queries or practical questions. They also provide you with a Career Coach, who is a more senior member of the staff team who mentors you through your internship and helps you set goals and act on feedback that you have been given.

really lovely. people were so friendly, always happy to block out 15 mins of their time to have coffee and chat about their role and experience. there was a good work/life balance and there were lots of social opportunities to get to know your team better. there was also a good culture of flexible working, so i could wfh when needed and it didn't pose a problem.

I loved my internship at PwC. It was a great insight into what management consultancy is, which was something I wasn't too clear on before I completed my time there. It provided me with great opportunities and has made me want to return to PwC for a grad role. The team, the work and the culture were all really great. The work was also meaningful, and I could see a real good in what we were setting out to achieve.
