Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I would support in projects the fraud team were working on. The tasks tend to involve listening or reading data, analysing them and providing ideas and concepts to improve efficieincy with the bank. Or to help out on collecting feedback for projects that have completed. But as an intern, there's things to do outside of the placement team you're in. There's a business project with other interns to be working on (but it's not assessed or weighted, it's just to learn skills and talk about in your final interview for the grad scheme). There's also self led learning modules and workshops you can take on, with topics like coding, analysis, digital literacy, presentation skills etc.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
You have a lot of freedom with your task and time management. You also are able to connect with other members of the bank, even senior ones, to learn about their jobs and their department- which helps you think about future careers and placements you'd want on the grad scheme
You get a good amount of responsibility but they don't throw you in the deep end- they ease you into more important work as you go through

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
i've developed team working skills and inclusivity skills. I've also developed analysis skills and learnt a lot of communication skills- especially with senior members of staff

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
quite a bit from my managers, but they mostly worked remote so we didn't get to talk daily. But they were always helpful when i was confused or had questions- never made me feel bad or dumb for not getting things or knowing what to do

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
I love the culture! Especially in the Digital X departments! It's very relaxed and casual atmosphere, and everyone is really friendly. there's a good work life balance too- lots on emphasis on mental health and putting yourself above your work. aka if you're frustrated or stressed you can just take a 15-30 min break to take a walk inside/outside the campus, have a chat or just take some wellness time to yourself

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
A lot. Maybe like 9/10- just because the work in the beginning was quite sparce and boring- and not the exact department i would've liked- but you don't get a choice much, only a preference survey they send
