Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Work as part of one of the technology teams, take on responsibility for tickets that the team has in the active sprint and backlog. Write, refactor and test code, deploy to various production environments. Attend agile ceremonies such as daily stand-up, refinement, etc.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

A fair amount - I was treated as one of the engineers, and took responsibility over the tickets that I was assigned, and the ones I took on. I appreciated that I was free to work on whatever tickets suited the team's priorities and my own skills, and it was up to me to decide how to carry them out, to get help when needed etc.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

Plenty of support and guidance. Lots of trainings in the first week, plus everyone is super friendly and willing to help if you reach out with any questions. Of course there is an expectation to try to problem solve yourself first, but everyone is keen to help. I felt comfortable reaching out to any of my team, supervisors, and early careers team.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Loved the culture and atmosphere. Everyone in the office is friendly and chill. Love the emphasis on holistic wellbeing and work-life balance.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I enjoyed the internship, it was a great first experience in industry. I got real hands-on experience of working in industry and would recommend interning here to any tech student.
