Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Been given an intern prject to create to help Amex customers build itineraries. I am working on the backend so this invloves, creating and managing the database, figuring out the backend architecture and mapping out all the API calls . This involves coding in the languages of Java, and using other technologies like Couchbase for the database
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, as our project was built from scratch, I had a lot of impact and could see what difference my work was making.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Yes, learning how to create a SpringBoot application and using Couchbase. Learnt how to communicate effecitvely ie in Standups where we have to give a short summary of previous days work

I received a lot of guidamce, my buddies were always available to help when I could not figure otu an error. There were also a lot of external people or grads who were always willing to talk and help out

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone is very friendly and supportive and happy to have a coffe chat. All of my questions were answered and I could ask anyone for a talk, if I was particularly interested in their role

Always be open, if you do not know certain technolgies, it is fine, be honest and willing to learn and see if you can use transferrable skills frofm your existing knowledge. Be communicative
