Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Supported PayFac and SMP team to add value to our partners and upskill the team on AMEX Product Offerings. Involved lots of calls with teams across the world and navigating the organisation to create a playbook.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Lots of responsibility, was able to discuss my project with several global senior leaders and external partners. Actually did a real task for the company and not just a fake intern project unlike what most of my friends interning in other sectors are doing.

Learnt lots of sales skills from sitting in sales training calls, my communication and presentation skills have really developed since starting and felt like I was really able to apply myself.

What advice would you give to others applying to American Express
I think the term ‘be yourself’ is a bit cliche and overused in the corporate space for interviews; but here genuinely do be. None of my interviews for AMEX felt like interviews and more of a conversation, and the people interviewing want the interviews to be like a chat. Be an interesting person to talk to, have a decent understanding of AMEX and for hirevue look at developments in payment industry!
