Assisting with the designs of a variety of projects. Some tasks include: designing structural elements, modelling, reviewing technical drawings, and report writing. Site visits were also a common occurrence during my time in the role.

My responsibilities during my placement involved preparing presentations, reports and designing structural elements. I was responsible for managing my own time for the tasks that I was given with deadlines.

I have vastly improved my technical knowledge and gained a better understanding of the full design process undertaken for a project. I have further developed professional skills like organisation, time management, presentation, and report writing. I have also become more familiar with the digital aspects of the industry.

My team were extremely supportive during the 12 months I was part of the team. I was given guidance and explanations when needed and felt comfortable asking as many questions as I needed to.

The office and wider company were inclusive and welcoming. The atmosphere felt collaborative and comfortable. There were lots of opportunities to connect with the wider office outside of my team.

I have really enjoyed the last year of my placement. It has been very informative and a great learning opportunity. I been able to utilise and develop the skills I have learnt though my studies and come away with a more in depth technical and general understanding of the engineering design process. I have been involved in a large variety of projects and the social atmosphere in the office has been highly positive also.
