Vacation Scheme (July) Review

A variety of tasks were involved, ranging from proofreading to carrying out legal research. The firm is extremely supportive and have paired each student with a trainee buddy who helps at every step of the way. The scheme also involved socials including a painting night and a cocktail/mocktail making social, before preparing us for our final interviews due to take place at the end of the scheme, for the training contract.

My trainee buddy was helpful in answering all and any questions I had. Due to this, I was able to gain a deeper understanding of not only the legal roles available at the firm, but other potential roles. The scheduled sessions (such as the ACED talk) also gave us useful insight into the business and potential roles available at the firm.

Yes. I have developed a range of skills such as clarity of thinking, commercial understanding and legal research. In particular, having had to produce a group presentation on D&I, I was able to strengthen my teamwork skills by suggesting that the group partake in daily videocalls wherever possible (for thirty minutes) in order to work together to produce our presentations. Thankfully, this helped us submit ours earlier than the deadline.

Very welcoming and supportive. If I need help, I feel comfortable enough to ask for it, knowing that someone will always be happy to help. I also really appreciate the firm's emphasis on self-development and growth through having regular catch-up sessions and calls with our supervisors, alongside evaluating the feedback forms given to us. I feel like growth is very encouraged here at the firm, which is great.

Massively! Despite the virtual setting, the firm went above and beyond to allow us to get to know the other fellow schemers and the firm. The extra thought taken by the firm really helped.
