Commercial Intern Review

I am the commercial intern for PPD (Professional Products Division) Ireland, managing Kerastase, Redken, L'Oreal Professionnel, Pureology, Matrix & Shu Uemura.
As the commercial intern my role orientates around working with influencers, getting products to influencers, event planning for new product launches all to gain traction for the brand.
Daily Tasks;
- On a weekly basis, I go through and upload all of our online retailer sales data to our system. Once this data has been uploaded by me, I will begin analyzing this data over the week.
- Analyzing the sales data consists of pulling top seller reports across all brands, tracking sales of our 'hero' skus (both in units and in value), tracking sales of new product launches against overall brand sell out and contrasting these sales against other retailers, to ultimately figure out how we are doing and how we can improve (with extra promo etc)
- I also look at sell-in data - this is important to understand buying trends further and forecast future stock uptake.
- I am responsible for every product page on our retailer sites, it is my responsibility to ensure they have all the correct and up to date assets for each brand/specific range as well as all correct information.
- I help in allocating promo funds to our retailers, I am in charge of allocating and ordering minis/products to run 'gift with purchases' on site. I have to track the sales data/performance vs other activations for these promos
- I help in organising learning days/workshops with our brand teams for our salon partners' staff (If I'm lucky I get to be a hair model!)
- I manage in store activations with [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] --> this involves ordering stock, inviting influencers to attend, ordering and providing branding/decoration
- I work with the supply team in facilitating orders from our retailers on a weekly basis.

I have been given a large amount of responsibility during my time at L'Oreal. This responsibility was a massive help to my personal and professional growth. I am so grateful for the responsibility that was given to me during my time at L'Oreal as it also gave me the freedom to lead and make key decisions in creative projects and decide final outcomes for exciting activities!

I have absolutely loved working in L'Oreal, I have been given the opportunity to obtain such a fruitful experience whilst in my work placement enabling me to work in multiple fields and try out multiple avenues within the company!
I have developed immense confidence & skills in analyzing sales data. I have gained such confidence when it comes to dealing with and analyzing sales data. My experience at L'Oreal has given me an understanding of different market trends, identifying areas for improvement and ultimately of making data-driven decisions.
Given the responsibility of managing product pages on retailer sites has enhanced my attention to detail and organization skills - I have fully understood how accurate and up-to-date product info and assets is crucial for providing a positive customer experience.
Allocating promotional funds and tracking the performance of promotions has given me insights into effective marketing strategies. I have learnt to optimize promotional activities and measure their impact on sales and customer engagement etc.
Working with salon partners, influencers, and retailers requires strong communication and relationship-building skills. I have learnt how to collaborate effectively with different stakeholders and ensure smooth coordination of in-store activations and events.

Throughout my time at L'Oreal, I have not only felt extremely supported by my line managers but also by the wider team. Any questions I had were welcomed with open arms and I was never hindered in questioning things or seeking guidance at any time from any person within the company.

Everyone was so kind and generous at this company. The office was a very welcoming and friendly environment with lots of chats!
