Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
We were introduced to the firm through an induction period, where we were introduced to the firm by key members who provided an overview of the firm’s operations and the nature of its work. After the induction, we were assigned to our chosen practice groups. In these groups, our daily tasks included drafting letters, filing cases, and other typical trainee responsibilities.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was really good to learn about all the different practice areas and different specialism that the firm works in. This internship gave some great insight to what potential areas that I am interested in and work in. It was also good to learn about some of the crucial roles that other non-fee earners play in the role and ensuring that the service provided to the clients is of the highest quality.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
This internship really helped me develop many of my skills. I enhanced my ability to retain and organise large amounts of information, presenting it clearly and concisely for clients. Additionally, I improved my skills in drafting legal documents, time management, and organisation. A new skill I acquired through this internship is client management skills, which includes understanding how to meet client demands and effectively communicating with them.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone was really approachable and helpful. Everyone made time to talk to us and support us no matter how busy they were, which was really nice.

I really enjoyed this internship. I did a lot of great work and met a lot of great people. This is a firm that I certainly could see my future at.

I would suggest getting to understand the firm and in particular their values. This is key to the firm and if you can understand that and really demonstrate it you will go far in the application process.
