Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
The role has involved both operational daily/weekly tasks and individual project work to improve systems/ways of working. Daily tasks would involve releasing orders, tracking stock and responding to any adhoc queries. A large portion of the role was based around projects to improve current ways of working and work towards more sustainable processes.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given full ownership of the PLV catalogue to ensure stock arrived on time and was all used. I was was very trusted within the team to have this ownership and it was really up to me to make sure all the activations went smoothly. Regarding projects, i undertook tasks as part of groups and on my own therefore giving me experience in different settings and needing to deliver for different needs of the business

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
The role has allowed me to develop skills around my communication and confidence. I was given plenty of opportunities to present to large groups and to more senior stakeholders which has allowed me to learn how to communicate effectively. Through project work i have grown in adaptability and problem solving skills. I have also learnt alot about networking and building relationships which will help me as i progress in my career.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
My manager was extremely supportive of me in my time at Loreal. We had weekly meetings to discuss how I was doing and if i needed any assistance. I was also always able to message if i has a more urgent query. My team were also very supportive from the beginning so i was always able to ask questions/for support.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture is very welcoming and inclusive. It was very common to ask anyone for a catch up regarding work or general conversation/questions. There are alot of young people who work at the company so it was a great place to learn and be surrounded by similar age ranges. the senior stakeholders I interacted with were also always willing to provide advise and guidance.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I very much enjoyed my internship. I have been able to learn a wide variety of skills and interact with many people of different functions. I was lucky to have alot of responsibility placed on me and have the opportunity to see my own projects through from start to finish. i am very grateful for the opportunities my manger gave me as i really feel i have developed alot over the year

What advice would you give to others applying to L'Oreal
Definitely show an interest in the company and their initiatives and make sure you have done research into the brands. Sustainability is a very bug topic in the business so if you are passionate about that it is a great thong to talk about.
