Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
In the accident damage management role I was responsible for managing the inbox, any marketing material orders through the online shop, managing the list of bodyshops on the national websites and helping my team with Adhoc tasks.
In the finance role, I had far more responsibility, from calculating the monthly commission to be paid to the investors, managing our van fleet list, processing invoices, managing the inbox and inputting the networks operations costs.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
In my finance role I was given a large amount of responsibility, since if the invoices I was responsible for weren't processed on time, the investors wouldn't get their money and consequently the staff potentially wouldn't get paid either, so this was a largely responsible task.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Some basic level excel, i.e. pivot tables, using graphs and visual aids.
How to put together a professional slide deck to present to heads of business.
Team work, presentation and communication skills have been developed throughout my year.
Industry specific, I've learnt lots about how TPS works at a high level and the challenges that come with a national sized project.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
In my first role in paint and body, I felt maybe I didn't get the level of support I needed from my line manager since he worked remotely for the majority of the week. We did put in 30 minuets of time each week to talk through any issues, but since I moved to the finance role I had far more support, I had daily meetings with my new manager and was able to see her all the time in the office, I think this was a big part as to why I enjoyed the second role much more.
How would you rate the support and guidance from your line manager?

How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
In general, the company culture was good, we had an open floor plan, and I felt that I could approach anyone for help. In our team however we did have a large number of highly experienced members of staff leave, meaning alot of knowledge has left and therefore the team feel more stressed.

What advice would you give to others applying to Volkswagen Group UK
Don't be afraid to speak up as your opinion is valid and they take on board what you say.
Say yes to all opportunities that come your way, be that charity or business focused, push yourself outside your comfort zone. But also learn to say no, if its something outside your scope either you have are stressed due to work load, say no to things you cannot deal with.
