Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I support month-end process including accrual postings, journal entries, cross charges, reporting and invoicing to sister companies and pensions subsidiary. I also oversee Balance Sheet reconciliation process and completion of certain balance sheets. I work with Financial Accountant and liaise with Colliers regarding Dealer Site rental charges and collections. I was involved in a functional project (within Finance) and a cross-functional project (with other Under-graduates).

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, after my handover period of three weeks, I was given a lot of responsibility. I could always go for help if needed, and certain tasks at the beginning I would check with the relevant to make sure there are correct.

I have learnt how to the accounting software SAP. I have also developed my Excel skills, learning new formulas and implementing these into my processes.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I received a three-week handover period which helped me settle in, and learn how to my tasks. I received a lot of support and guidance from my manager when I needed help, and also from other members of my team.
