Finance Controlling Assistant Review

My main responsibility is helping control the indirect costs which involves tasks such as consolidating monthly forecasts, reporting on tactical expenditure by brands and help forecast for staff associated costs and brand overheads. I also get given adhoc tasks to complete. Throughout the year I also would try and regularly improve the month end processes through creating new formulas or implementing macros.

Yes I was treated more like a member of the team then just a placement student. Throughout my placement my work load has increased and I have been given more tasks increasing my responsibility.

My proficiency in Excel has grown significantly through developing various files from scratch, featuring multiple pivot tables, slicers, and other advanced formulas. I also learnt how to use ISAC accounting software and have been able to help design new reports. As well as this I have developed my organisational skills as well as my presentation skills through various presentations I have had to give.

I was given lots of support and guidance in my placement. I received a 3 week handover by the previous placement student which was very useful in teaching me all the tasks I needed to do. I also had process notes which were very useful allowed me to double check any processes. Then throughout my placement I would have regular catch ups with my manager to discuss any issues or questions i might have.

Company atmosphere is very friendly, everyone is always willing to help.

I really enjoyed my placement and it has been a very insightful year that has helped me decide what I want to do in the future.
