Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
I was able to shadow junior members of the actuarial team - attend sessions on investment actuary and learn more about the field.
I was also able to meet and network with more senior members of the team and ask them questions about their team and their day to day interactions in PWC.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
I was able to really increase my understanding of an actuarial job. My knowledge was not as vast coming in and I was able to learn about Insurance, Pension and Investment Actuary. I was also able to attend team meetings and talk to junior teams to learn how they operate as a group and how they balance working with studying.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I have learnt how to network with people of all grades - interact in a calm and friendly manner as well as be confident enough to ask many different questions. I was also be able to learn to interact with my peers and work with them to - make sure we attend the correct meeting or work together to sort out a clash.

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture was generally extremely friendly. It was very easy to contact people even if they were not directly involved with the Women in Business program and arrange a meeting to talk. Also the company had mental health events, virtual sports events and a cookalong that gave us - not just work - but some fun activities to look forward to.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I really enjoyed the insight program. This allowed me to have a genuine view of what it is like to view PWC from the point of an employee. I felt fully immersed and have gained a lot of confidence in networking with more senior figures as well as a better insight into the job role of actuary.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC
I would recommend people do research on PWC and have a sense of the culture before joining. I would also say to not get too afraid of the assessment centre. It is a really intense experience but you just need to be yourself, actively participate in discussions and make sure you manage your time well.
