Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

My day to day involve reporting on a number of different KPIs. Preparing for meetings with relevant data and slides when necessary as well as building and maintaining a database. A lot of time is spent trying to improve process efficiency.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given a lot of responsibility in my role to almost single handily run reporting for the whole brand on the main KPIs each day. I was able to add my own ideas and suggestions to the work i did and given freedom to try to improve the processes as much as possible.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have learnt a lot of softer skills such as how to present effectively and communicate well as well has other skills such as Microsoft Office Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint and Access.
I have also learnt a lot about the inner workings of the automotive industry, how important each department we have are to the operational success of the business.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

There is a lot of support available as everyone is willing to help. You just have to ask. There are initially mandatory trainings and then some scheduled training throughout the year and plenty of optional courses and trainings that you can attend.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The atmosphere is very friendly throughout Volkswagen group. It could do with more social groups being advertised better.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

This placement was very useful for my growth and learning experience was great. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in throughout the 12 months and with 40 undergraduates in total it helps.
